Step Two

From the quick routing menu choose the bottom left one.

This means the signal from Oscillator 1 and Oscillator 2 goes through the Filter and then to the Amplifier.

Then simply activate the Oscillator 2 as you click on the Osc2 button.

Step Three

As I want to keep this tutorial neat and less time consuming Step Three contains most of the important parts of shaping the characteristics of the sound.

Click on Noise to enable the noise oscillator. This will add a bit of a grit to the sound. I have set the volume for the Noise oscillator to -35 dB. You can adjust it to your own taste.

Next go right across the interface and select Unison and turn it on. Detune the oscillators by 17.00.

Click on the Filter 1 tab and choose from the drop down menu LP24. Reduce the Frequency to 519 and dial 2% on the Resonance knob.

Bellow you can see the envelope for the filter. Click on Env and dial 3.63. Now you can play with the Decay and Release settings. For this sharp and stabby sound I recommend to leave the Attack as it is.

Step Four

Step Four is mostly effects.

Insert Simple Delay from the Effects folder and use the following settings.

Click on Sync and change it to Time. This way I personally feel more creative to dial my own delay times. For the Left channel I have chosen 125ms and for the Right 165ms.

Feedback is set to 21% and Dry/Wet to 25%.

The next effect in our chain is Reverb. There was not much done on it. Simply play with the Decay knob, Diffuse Knob and the Dry/Wet knob.

I have set Decay Timie to 1.84s, Diffuse to -1.5dB and Dry/Wet to 55%.

Ideally you would have Delay and Reverb inserted on a Return tracks to save some CPU power but due to the fact that this is just a tutorial I am using them as an insert effect.

Feel free to twist every knob and experiment in any way possible. This is the only true way to learn how to program synthesizers.
